b.Book - The 48 Laws of Power

The last part is here:    Book - Far from the Madding Crowd

The 48 Laws of Power (1998) is the first book by American author Robert Greene. The book is a bestseller. It has sold over 1.2 million copies in the United States and is popular with prison inmates and celebrities.

Greene initially formulated some of the ideas in The 48 Laws of Power while working as a writer in Hollywood and observing that today's power elite shared similar traits with powerful figures throughout history. In 1995, Greene worked as a writer at Fabrica, an art and media school, and met a book packager named Joost Elffers. Greene pitched a book about power to Elffers and six months later, Elffers requested that Greene write a treatment. Although Greene was unhappy in his current job, he was comfortable and saw the time needed to write a proper book proposal as too risky. However, at the time Greene was rereading his favorite biography about Julius Caesar and took inspiration from Caesar's decision to cross the Rubicon River and fight Pompey, thus inciting the Great Roman Civil War. Greene would follow Caesar's example and write the treatment, which later became The 48 Laws of Power. He would note this as the turning point of his life.

The book is here:   The 48 Laws of Power

The 48 Laws of Power
by Robert Greene and Joost Elffers

Law 1
Never Outshine the Master

Always make those above you feel comfortably superior. In your desire to please or impress them, do not go too far in displaying your talents or you might accomplish the opposite – inspire fear and insecurity. Make your masters appear more brilliant than they are and you will attain the heights of power.
(Han Xin) made that mistake.

Law 2
Never put too Much Trust in Friends, Learn how to use Enemies

Be wary of friends-they will betray you more quickly, for they are easily aroused to envy. They also become spoiled and tyrannical. But hire a former enemy and he will be more loyal than a friend, because he has more to prove. In fact, you have more to fear from friends than from enemies. If you have no enemies, find a way to make them.
This was one of the most important aspect of 刘邦. He captured even the hearts of his enemies and made them loyal to him.

Law 3
Conceal your Intentions

Keep people off-balance and in the dark by never revealing the purpose behind your actions. If they have no clue what you are up to, they cannot prepare a defense. Guide them far enough down the wrong path, envelope them in enough smoke, and by the time they realize your intentions, it will be too late.
Concealment is good against competition but I don't agreed among friends. Your friends can smell your insincerity from miles away. Your best choice-of-weapon is still honesty.

Law 4
 Always Say Less than Necessary

When you are trying to impress people with words, the more you say, the more common you appear, and the less in control. Even if you are saying something banal, it will seem original if you make it vague, open-ended, and sphinx-like. Powerful people impress and intimidate by saying less. The more you say, the more likely you are to say something foolish.
Agreed.

Law 5
So Much Depends on Reputation – Guard it with your Life

Reputation is the cornerstone of power. Through reputation alone you can intimidate and win; once you slip, however, you are vulnerable, and will be attacked on all sides. Make your reputation unassailable. Always be alert to potential attacks and thwart them before they happen. Meanwhile, learn to destroy your enemies by opening holes in their own reputations. Then stand aside and let public opinion hang them.
Interesting. To me, good or bad reputation doesn't phase me. I just present a stable outlook.

Law 6
Court Attention at all Cost

Everything is judged by its appearance; what is unseen counts for nothing. Never let yourself get lost in the crowd, then, or buried in oblivion. Stand out. Be conspicuous, at all cost. Make yourself a magnet of attention by appearing larger, more colorful, more mysterious, than the bland and timid masses.
Totally disagreed. One must feel totally invisible. Totally non-threatening.

Law 7
Get others to do the Work for you, but Always Take the Credit

Use the wisdom, knowledge, and legwork of other people to further your own cause. Not only will such assistance save you valuable time and energy, it will give you a god-like aura of efficiency and speed. In the end your helpers will be forgotten and you will be remembered. Never do yourself what others can do for you.
Totally disagreed. Be honest, claim only what's truly yours. You can't fight a dishonest facade.

Law 8
Make other People come to you – use Bait if Necessary

When you force the other person to act, you are the one in control. It is always better to make your opponent come to you, abandoning his own plans in the process. Lure him with fabulous gains – then attack. You hold the cards.
Interesting. If you can make the enemy acts in the wrong way. Not bad an idea.

 Law 9
Win through your Actions, Never through Argument

Any momentary triumph you think gained through argument is really a Pyrrhic victory: The resentment and ill will you stir up is stronger and lasts longer than any momentary change of opinion. It is much more powerful to get others to agree with you through your actions, without saying a word. Demonstrate, do not explicate.
Agreed.

 Law 10
Infection: Avoid the Unhappy and Unlucky

You can die from someone else’s misery – emotional states are as infectious as disease. You may feel you are helping the drowning man but you are only precipitating your own disaster. The unfortunate sometimes draw misfortune on themselves; they will also draw it on you. Associate with the happy and fortunate instead.
Possibly true.

Law 11
Learn to Keep People Dependent on You

To maintain your independence you must always be needed and wanted. The more you are relied on, the more freedom you have. Make people depend on you for their happiness and prosperity and you have nothing to fear. Never teach them enough so that they can do without you.
Agreed.

Law 12
Use Selective Honesty and Generosity to Disarm your Victim

One sincere and honest move will cover over dozens of dishonest ones. Open-hearted gestures of honesty and generosity bring down the guard of even the most suspicious people. Once your selective honesty opens a hole in their armor, you can deceive and manipulate them at will. A timely gift – a Trojan horse – will serve the same purpose.
Agreed first part but not second part.

Law 13
When Asking for Help, Appeal to People’s Self-Interest, Never to their Mercy or Gratitude

If you need to turn to an ally for help, do not bother to remind him of your past assistance and good deeds. He will find a way to ignore you. Instead, uncover something in your request, or in your alliance with him, that will benefit him, and emphasize it out of all proportion. He will respond enthusiastically when he sees something to be gained for himself.
Truth.

Law 14
Pose as a Friend, Work as a Spy

Knowing about your rival is critical. Use spies to gather valuable information that will keep you a step ahead. Better still: Play the spy yourself. In polite social encounters, learn to probe. Ask indirect questions to get people to reveal their weaknesses and intentions. There is no occasion that is not an opportunity for artful spying.
Gathering information small or big is always important.

Law 15
 Crush your Enemy Totally

All great leaders since Moses have known that a feared enemy must be crushed completely. (Sometimes they have learned this the hard way.) If one ember is left alight, no matter how dimly it smolders, a fire will eventually break out. More is lost through stopping halfway than through total annihilation: The enemy will recover, and will seek revenge. Crush him, not only in body but in spirit.
Agreed but very reluctantly. A superior tactics is to bring him into our folds.

 Law 16
Use Absence to Increase Respect and Honor

Too much circulation makes the price go down: The more you are seen and heard from, the more common you appear. If you are already established in a group, temporary withdrawal from it will make you more talked about, even more admired. You must learn when to leave. Create value through scarcity.
Agreed wholeheartedly.

 Law 17
Keep Others in Suspended Terror: Cultivate an Air of Unpredictability

Humans are creatures of habit with an insatiable need to see familiarity in other people’s actions. Your predictability gives them a sense of control. Turn the tables: Be deliberately unpredictable. Behavior that seems to have no consistency or purpose will keep them off-balance, and they will wear themselves out trying to explain your moves. Taken to an extreme, this strategy can intimidate and terrorize.
The darker secrets have to be protected.

Law 18
Do Not Build Fortresses to Protect Yourself – Isolation is Dangerous

The world is dangerous and enemies are everywhere – everyone has to protect themselves. A fortress seems the safest. But isolation exposes you to more dangers than it protects you from – it cuts you off from valuable information, it makes you conspicuous and an easy target. Better to circulate among people find allies, mingle. You are shielded from your enemies by the crowd.
Agreed.

Law 19
Know Who You’re Dealing with – Do Not Offend the Wrong Person

There are many different kinds of people in the world, and you can never assume that everyone will react to your strategies in the same way. Deceive or outmaneuver some people and they will spend the rest of their lives seeking revenge. They are wolves in lambs’ clothing. Choose your victims and opponents carefully, then – never offend or deceive the wrong person.
LOL. Merely a very poor choice of attack.

Law 20
Do Not Commit to Anyone

It is the fool who always rushes to take sides. Do not commit to any side or cause but yourself. By maintaining your independence, you become the master of others – playing people against one another, making them pursue you.
Totally disagreed. You must take sides very early. Choose your side very carefully and commit very very early in the game. Those on the same side will treat and support you well. Although you would not win the support of the other side, the other side will always try to woo you as you are seen as one who is loyal and dependable. You win much more through respect and wooing from enemy.

Law 21
Play a Sucker to Catch a Sucker – Seem Dumber than your Mark

No one likes feeling stupider than the next persons. The trick, is to make your victims feel smart – and not just smart, but smarter than you are. Once convinced of this, they will never suspect that you may have ulterior motives.
Agreed.

Law 22
Use the Surrender Tactic: Transform Weakness into Power

When you are weaker, never fight for honor’s sake; choose surrender instead. Surrender gives you time to recover, time to torment and irritate your conqueror, time to wait for his power to wane. Do not give him the satisfaction of fighting and defeating you – surrender first. By turning the other cheek you infuriate and unsettle him. Make surrender a tool of power.
Totally agreed.
 Law 23
Concentrate Your Forces

Conserve your forces and energies by keeping them concentrated at their strongest point. You gain more by finding a rich mine and mining it deeper, than by flitting from one shallow mine to another – intensity defeats extensity every time. When looking for sources of power to elevate you, find the one key patron, the fat cow who will give you milk for a long time to come.
Totally, totally agreed. Absolute overwhelming power will assure swift victory and encourage easy surrender of the enemy.

Law 24
Play the Perfect Courtier

The perfect courtier thrives in a world where everything revolves around power and political dexterity. He has mastered the art of indirection; he flatters, yields to superiors, and asserts power over others in the mot oblique and graceful manner. Learn and apply the laws of courtiership and there will be no limit to how far you can rise in the court.
This law is GOLD. Court jester has absolute persuasion.

Law 25
Re-Create Yourself

Do not accept the roles that society foists on you. Re-create yourself by forging a new identity, one that commands attention and never bores the audience. Be the master of your own image rather than letting others define if for you. Incorporate dramatic devices into your public gestures and actions – your power will be enhanced and your character will seem larger than life.
Dependent on characteristics of persona. This law is sexy.

Law 26
Keep Your Hands Clean

You must seem a paragon of civility and efficiency: Your hands are never soiled by mistakes and nasty deeds. Maintain such a spotless appearance by using others as scapegoats and cat’s-paws to disguise your involvement.
Neutral.

Law 27
Play on People’s Need to Believe to Create a Cult-like Following

People have an overwhelming desire to believe in something. Become the focal point of such desire by offering them a cause, a new faith to follow. Keep your words vague but full of promise; emphasize enthusiasm over rationality and clear thinking. Give your new disciples rituals to perform, ask them to make sacrifices on your behalf. In the absence of organized religion and grand causes, your new belief system will bring you untold power.
This law is absolutely GOLD. Every Elisabeth, Jane and Mary love to join a cult.

Law 28
 Enter Action with Boldness

If you are unsure of a course of action, do not attempt it. Your doubts and hesitations will infect your execution. Timidity is dangerous: Better to enter with boldness. Any mistakes you commit through audacity are easily corrected with more audacity. Everyone admires the bold; no one honors the timid.
Agreed.

Law 29
Plan All the Way to the End

The ending is everything. Plan all the way to it, taking into account all the possible consequences, obstacles, and twists of fortune that might reverse your hard work and give the glory to others. By planning to the end you will not be overwhelmed by circumstances and you will know when to stop. Gently guide fortune and help determine the future by thinking far ahead.
Planning is not a power law but a pre-requisite.

Law 30
Make your Accomplishments Seem Effortless

Your actions must seem natural and executed with ease. All the toil and practice that go into them, and also all the clever tricks, must be concealed. When you act, act effortlessly, as if you could do much more. Avoid the temptation of revealing how hard you work – it only raises questions. Teach no one your tricks or they will be used against you.
This law is important and must be used on gals.

Law 31
Control the Options: Get Others to Play with the Cards you Deal

The best deceptions are the ones that seem to give the other person a choice: Your victims feel they are in control, but are actually your puppets. Give people options that come out in your favor whichever one they choose. Force them to make choices between the lesser of two evils, both of which serve your purpose. Put them on the horns of a dilemma: They are gored wherever they turn.
Neutral.

Law 32
Play to People’s Fantasies

The truth is often avoided because it is ugly and unpleasant. Never appeal to truth and reality unless you are prepared for the anger that comes for disenchantment. Life is so harsh and distressing that people who can manufacture romance or conjure up fantasy are like oases in the desert: Everyone flocks to them. There is great power in tapping into the fantasies of the masses.
Great. This is a religion-making, same as the cult law.

 Law 33
Discover Each Man’s Thumbscrew

Everyone has a weakness, a gap in the castle wall. That weakness is usual y an insecurity, an uncontrollable emotion or need; it can also be a small secret pleasure. Either way, once found, it is a thumbscrew you can turn to your advantage.
Normal. Know thy enemy. Important.

Law 34
Be Royal in your Own Fashion: Act like a King to be treated like one

The way you carry yourself will often determine how you are treated; In the long run, appearing vulgar or common will make people disrespect you. For a king respects himself and inspires the same sentiment in others. By acting regally and confident of your powers, you make yourself seem destined to wear a crown.
Don't agree. Never fall into the regal trap set up by the enemy.

Law 35
Master the Art of Timing

Never seem to be in a hurry – hurrying betrays a lack of control over yourself, and over time. Always seem patient, as if you know that everything will come to you eventually. Become a detective of the right moment; sniff out the spirit of the times, the trends that will carry you to power. Learn to stand back when the time is not yet ripe, and to strike fiercely when it has reached fruition.
Agreed. Timing the attack is also key to success.

Law 36
Disdain Things you cannot have: Ignoring them is the best Revenge

By acknowledging a petty problem you give it existence and credibility. The more attention you pay an enemy, the stronger you make him; and a small mistake is often made worse and more visible when you try to fix it. It is sometimes best to leave things alone. If there is something you want but cannot have, show contempt for it. The less interest you reveal, the more superior you seem.
LOL. Nothing to add. Just a funny law.

Law 37
 Create Compelling Spectacles

Striking imagery and grand symbolic gestures create the aura of power – everyone responds to them. Stage spectacles for those around you, then full of arresting visuals and radiant symbols that heighten your presence. Dazzled by appearances, no one will notice what you are really doing.
Creating spectacles is always part and parcel of a powerful guy.

Law 38
Think as you like but Behave like others

If you make a show of going against the times, flaunting your unconventional ideas and unorthodox ways, people will think that you only want attention and that you look down upon them. They will find a way to punish you for making them feel inferior. It is far safer to blend in and nurture the common touch. Share your originality only with tolerant friends and those who are sure to appreciate your uniqueness.
Invisibility is my favourite.

Law 39
Stir up Waters to Catch Fish

Anger and emotion are strategically counterproductive. You must always stay calm and objective. But if you can make your enemies angry while staying calm yourself, you gain a decided advantage. Put your enemies off-balance: Find the chink in their vanity through which you can rattle them and you hold the strings.
Opportunistic. Nothing useful. Maybe just one word:   Be prepared always. Have cash stashed away to grab these opportunities which will come once awhile.

Law 40
Despise the Free Lunch

What is offered for free is dangerous – it usually involves either a trick or a hidden obligation. What has worth is worth paying for. By paying your own way you stay clear of gratitude, guilt, and deceit. It is also often wise to pay the full price – there is no cutting corners with excellence. Be lavish with your money and keep it circulating, for generosity is a sign and a magnet for power.
True.

Law 41
Avoid Stepping into a Great Man’s Shoes

What happens first always appears better and more original than what comes after. If you succeed a great man or have a famous parent, you will have to accomplish double their achievements to outshine them. Do not get lost in their shadow, or stuck in a past not of your own making: Establish your own name and identity by changing course. Slay the overbearing father, disparage his legacy, and gain power by shining in your own way.
Sad truth.

Law 42
Strike the Shepherd and the Sheep will Scatter

Trouble can often be traced to a single strong individual – the stirrer, the arrogant underling, the poisoned of goodwill. If you allow such people room to operate, others will succumb to their influence. Do not wait for the troubles they cause to multiply, do not try to negotiate with them – they are irredeemable. Neutralize their influence by isolating or banishing them. Strike at the source of the trouble and the sheep will scatter.
No experience.

Law 43
Work on the Hearts and Minds of Others

Coercion creates a reaction that will eventually work against you. You must seduce others into wanting to move in your direction. A person you have seduced becomes your loyal pawn. And the way to seduce others is to operate on their individual psychologies and weaknesses. Soften up the resistant by working on their emotions, playing on what they hold dear and what they fear. Ignore the hearts and minds of others and they will grow to hate you.
Agreed.

Law 44
Disarm and Infuriate with the Mirror Effect

The mirror reflects reality, but it is also the perfect tool for deception: When you mirror your enemies, doing exactly as they do, they cannot figure out your strategy. The Mirror Effect mocks and humiliates them, making them overreact. By holding up a mirror to their psyches, you seduce them with the illusion that you share their values; by holding up a mirror to their actions, you teach them a lesson. Few can resist the power of Mirror Effect.
Mirror is a very important skill. This is no law but a systemic approach to create influence. I guess that means power.

Law 45
Preach the Need for Change, but Never Reform too much at Once

Everyone understands the need for change in the abstract, but on the day-to-day level people are creatures of habit. Too much innovation is traumatic, and will lead to revolt. If you are new to a position of power, or an outsider trying to build a power base, make a show of respecting the old way of doing things. If change is necessary, make it feel like a gentle improvement on the past.
Great stuff.

Law 46
Never appear too Perfect

Appearing better than others is always dangerous, but most dangerous of all is to appear to have no faults or weaknesses. Envy creates silent enemies. It is smart to occasionally display defects, and admit to harmless vices, in order to deflect envy and appear more human and approachable. Only gods and the dead can seem perfect with impunity.
As I have mentioned in skirt-chasing:   Never be a perfect hero. Be a broken hero. Have something for the gals to think that they can help you to improve. Only then will they drop their pants.

Law 47
Do not go Past the Mark you Aimed for; In Victory, Learn when to Stop

The moment of victory is often the moment of greatest peril. In the heat of victory, arrogance and overconfidence can push you past the goal you had aimed for, and by going too far, you make more enemies than you defeat. Do not allow success to go to your head. There is no substitute for strategy and careful planning. Set a goal, and when you reach it, stop.
Aiyo ... This law came from gambling. Know when to walk from the table to encash the winnings. Easy to say, bullshit to execute.

Law 48
Assume Formlessness

By taking a shape, by having a visible plan, you open yourself to attack. Instead of taking a form for your enemy to grasp, keep yourself adaptable and on the move. Accept the fact that nothing is certain and no law is fixed. The best way to protect yourself is to be as fluid and formless as water; never bet on stability or lasting order. Everything changes.
This is my favourite law. Formlessness is my absoluteness. Make sure no one knows your true bottom. If your allies love to womanize, womanize worse than them. If your allies love to be straight, talk religion better than them. If your allies love to show-off, be their best listening ear. If your allies love to show individualism, show them power by grouping together.

My Comments (in blue):

The book has full of examples. Not all the things are accurate. You should treat the book with a light touch. Assimilate what is suitable to you, discard those that don't take the correct form.

For those who are familiar with me. You will realize power is just an aura, not something physical. Build that aura, no ants big or small will dare to bite. No lions big or small will dare to challenge you.

The last part is here:   孫子兵法 (軍形篇第四) (Chapter 4 - 1) (Part 22)

Let's continue ...

Some translation suggested:
To see victory only when it is within the ken of the common herd is not the acme of excellence. Neither is it the acme of excellence if you fight and conquer and the whole Empire says, "Well done!" To lift an autumn hair is no sign of great strength; to see the sun and moon is no sign of sharp sight; to hear the noise of thunder is no sign of a quick ear. What the ancients called a clever fighter is one who not only wins, but excels in winning with ease. Hence his victories bring him neither reputation for wisdom nor credit for courage. He wins his battles by making no mistakes. Making no mistakes is what establishes the certainty of victory, for it means conquering an enemy that is already defeated. Hence the skillful fighter puts himself into a position which makes defeat impossible, and does not miss the moment for defeating the enemy. Thus it is that in war the victorious strategist only seeks battle after the victory has been won, whereas he who is destined to defeat first fights and afterwards looks for victory.
Moran:   The ability to see "victory" does not exceed what the multitudes are able to understand, and it is not the best of all good abilities. When a battle is won everyone on earth says that is good, but it is not the best of all good outcomes. Now lifting a hair taken from the winter pelt of an animal is not deemed an extreme of strength. Seeing the sun or the moon is not credited as having acute vision. Hearing crashes of thunder is not called acute hearing. Those in antiquity who were good at warfare won under circumstances where it was easy to win. Therefore those who won good wars did not get a name for being wise, nor were they praised for their bravery. So their war victories came from their not making errors. The plans executed by those who did not err had to have succeeded. They won out over those who were already defeated. So those who are good at warfare first establish themselves in an invincible position, and then take care not to let go of the defeat of their enemies [if it is offered to them]. For that reason, victorious armies will first win and only then seek warfare. Losing armies will first go to war and only later seek [the way to achieve] victory.

Let's discuss:

Able to foresee "victory" no keener than the common public perception is not good enough.
:   Winning a battle and gain praises of everyone is not good enough.
Therefore, able to lift newly-grown down is not termed "great strength", Able to spot the sun or moon is not termed "keen vision", :   Able to hear the thunderclap is not termed "acute hearing".
:   The ancient warriors are good at choosing where it was easy to win.
:   Therefore, those good warriors won battles that did not get themselves a name for being wise, nor were they praised for their bravery.
:   Hence, their battle victories come from not erring.
:   Those that don't err would execute particular plans to victory and would have won over those who were already defeated.
:   Therefore, good warriors first establish themselves in an indefeasible position and then, not miss the opportunity to take defeat of enemies.
Hence, for that reason, victorious army will seek victory before going into battle. Losing army will go into battle before seeking victory.

Wow ... The translation is still very weak.

SunTzu obviously drew lessons from seasoned campaigners. He explained any clever warrior must first make himself totally indefeasible and attack only if he has the certain victory opportunity, only then will he attack.

This is absolutely true in business. In business, forget about invading other competitor's products. Stay focused and concentrate on developing the product's quality. Only with quality, your product will not perish in the market (indefeasible). The price of the product is not an issue. If it is really that good, it can be priced higher. The market penetration may be slower but your competitors will not be able to kill you simply because their products are currently not as good as yours. Consumers are not dumb. They are great at discerning quality. They are just cheapskate, wanting great quality with zero price. But, pushed to the corner, the consumers will consume the best price-value product.

By retaining an indefeasible position, i.e., your product has a loyal following. Once the competitors show weakness, you can now attempt the attack and attain complete victory. But, in other chapters, this form of attacking is not the most ideal form of warfare.

Any attack on enemy's territories must be done in such a way that it is silent and of assumingly little effort. Any victory must look and sund effortless so that the public place is not alerted of your victory, but assume that the enemy has perished due to ill market conditions and not due to attacks.

At the end of the day, SunTzu still advocated non-battles or battle with easy wins.

So too in business, try to minimize attacks and just mind your own fucking business. If forced to attack, choose those already defeated. If you have read the book: 48 Laws of Power (highly recommended), you would have understood the best form of power must come from seemingly effortless attempts. Enemies will fear your presence and refuse to engage you into battle. Your existence would be assured. Only assured existence ensures life and longevity. Victory over territory and enemy is only a matter of patience and time.

g.Show - 非誠勿擾

The last part is here:   Show - 楚漢傳奇

The show is here:   非誠勿擾

This is actually a very bad post about the show. Not so much of the show per se, but the gals exhibited the worst of them coated with saccharin sweetness.

铁汉柔情 - Gals always expect the guys who made it super rich but yet never bed too many gals. Not married, no kids. Age was no issue. But, still romantic and willing to spend on the gal, absolute to be mind-controlled by the gal. Well, if the guy is super strong in business, he would be very strong-minded. That's what makes him very sexy in the first place.
There was once a guy who said that he had bedded over a 100 gals. He kept super long hair, reached ass. He was an investor who had very expensive taste in wine and alcohol. He was rich. But, zero gals went for him. They tried to poke holes into his persona. They made life very difficult for him, without truly giving him a chance to showcase himself or understand his psychic. The question remained that how can he bed 100 gals if the gals are not charmed by him. He was rejected simply for a showed revenge. All the gals knew that, in private, he will still find his gals.
He said something quite interesting. He felt no feelings towards the gals he bedded. I agreed with him. If he has not invested feelings, his path would be futile. Only if he invests in feelings, only then he will find happiness.
In fact, from his look and feel, I believed he must have bedded the most beautiful and the most ugly gal in his life. Therefore, this poor guy was no longer after pure looks, he was looking for some one he can spend his time quietly with. He felt the need to grow old together.
A lot of gals don't understand that a strong guy is not to be played with. He is not your toy. He must be respected. Once he felt that respect, he would be the most romantic guy on earth. Full of zeal and full of surprises. Isn't this what a gal dream about? Being that queen or princess? Play this game well, my dear.

Some gals stayed for god-damn so long. They are not interested in finding that guy, but, to screw bad all the guys who came for them. Poor guys, they rolled, they spinned and they exploded. The gals don't understand these guys as they looked stupid or clownish in front of the cameras. Extremely beta-feel of them, but, mind you, gals, they would be the best alphas you could ever find on earth. They are never your clowns. But, how many gals understand these simpletons. They are simple because they have not faced hardship. Once they are forced into battle, they would be your worst nightmares.

大叔控 - Almost 50% of the gals declared that they are interested in guys who are much older and "stable". This is basically bullshit. They just want some one rich. But, once a while, they get some rich and young, they would change their tune and say they are emotionally indisposed.

Others - Those guys with simple jobs like gym instructor, music instructor, teacher, artist, dancer, IT, soldier, police and salesman, were all guaranteed to leave alone. They always say they had no "心跳", even though they are prima donas in human physique.

Mind-Control - Many gals would reject the guy once he showed to be very strong-headed. One of the best ways to con the gals is to appear amenable to suggestions but yet retain that strong money-making process. Even guys from USA and Europe were rejected simply because they have a simple jobs such as educators.

Young Failures - Very often young guys were rejected simply because they claimed that they like young brothers to them and so on. Very poor answers even though these young guys are tall, exercised and handsome, not a single small brother feel from them.

Superior Jobs - Pilots, medical doctors, mnc company ceo, vice-presidents of banks, owners of huge companies have more than 50% choice to choose from. On top of that, there are 24 gals waiting at the 爱转角 to snatch these prizes. So having good hunting skills are prime.

爱转角 - If in the event that the 24 gals didn't choose the guy, the guy might still be picked up by the 24 gals at 爱转角. Interestingly, these 爱转角 gals are quite pretty and young. Once confronted with zero opportunity to present her case in public, she will just stand up and say her piece. More often than not, the guy will just agree. These gals were young, pretty and very aggressive. I like these type of gals. Sometime in life, it is not about how rich the guy is. Even a rich guy will lose money if he is not careful. A poor guy would be rich if he applies his mind. There are no absoluteness in one's station. The most important thing in life I feel is respect. Give that respect and gain that mutual respect, no matter if it is a gal or guy, she or he would be happy. You might be on the pedestal today, feeling strong and proud, there is no guarantee that tomorrow you would not be dumped.

Opportunity - I feel funny today. An old friend contacted me and said that she might want to settle down in white land. I smiled. She was once upon the time a belle in our times. It is funny that she was not married. Till now, she looks stunning and gorgeous. I used to have nice feelings about her. She is very intelligent, very polite and very nice person. I don't understand why she was not married after all these years. I believe she must have had some issues. She has already dated me. I will find out more. Happiness must be gained through effort. I wish her well.

Let's enjoy the show ...

p.Remedy - Cough and Cold

It is very common that we will occasionally fall sick due to the viruses around us.

Once the people around us fall sick, they carry loads of hyper-active viruses. It is not unusual that one will fall sick due to the viruses.

The virus will first attack the nose, i.e., we will have running nose for a few days. Sometimes, we will have a nasal sounding voice.

Then, it will start to attack the tonsils, i.e., the tonsils will get a bit scratchy and hurts. When we feel a little itch, we will put out a couple of cough and a sore throat.

The virus will continue downwards towards the gullet, i.e., your lungs will start to cough. It will be bad. Initially full of phlegm and then later it becomes drier.

The lungs will hurt real bad.

The whole process can last up to 100-120 days.

Prevention
Take fruits and vitamin C on a daily basis. This will at least prevent the weaker virus versions. Exercise regularly.

Cure
In the unfortunate event that the virus fully attacked, chicken and fruits will make you real bad. But, it shall not bother you too much. It is common to buy to lozenges, cough syrup or even see a doctor for anti-biotics.

Suggested Cure
Raw unprocessed honey has been value as a health tonic since ancient times. It is used by the ancient Greeks, Romans and Chinese for skin and mouth sores and to improve athletic performance. Honey is made by honey bees from nectar and pollen. It comprises a complex combination of carbohydrates (mainly fructose, glucose, maltose and sucrose), water and small amounts of proteins, enzymes, vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and amino acids. Raw Honey will also contain bits of pollen and propolis. Honey bees make propolis from tree sap and use it in honeycomb building and to sterilize it from infection. Researchers have found that propolis has phytonutrients that prevent cancer and tumours. Propolis also has anti oxidant, anti inflammatory, anti allergenic and antimicrobial properties.
Most commercially processed honey contains no pollen and propolis. Raw honey is naturally antibacterial, antiviral and anti-fungal in nature. Research has shown that it prevents the growth of bacteria, yeast and other organisms. Honey is hydroscopic and therefore limits water available for these organisms. One of the enzymes in raw honey, glucose oxidase, converts glucose in the presence of water into gluconic acid and hydrogen peroxide. This results in mild natural acids that kill bacteria and heal wounds. Gluconic acid has also been shown to increase calcium absorption. Raw honey's antioxidant properties combat free radical damage in our bodies that may contribute to aging and some degenerative disease such as cancer. The antioxidant activity is the result of enzymes such as catalase and non-enzymatic substances such as flavonoids and phenlics.
Honey antioxidant properties can also be used to prevent food from spoiling. Research shows meats and other foods marinated or mixed with honey can keep longer, and this reduces the risk of food poisoning. The presence of oligosaccharides in honey promotes the growth and activity of friendly gut bifidobacteria. It can therefore improve digestion and gastrointestinal health. Dark honey generally has higher amounts of antioxidants and therefore tends to be more effective. Honey is a very

Just coat the mouth with honey. Whenever feels itchy, just consume the honey without water and coat the wounds in the tonsils, gullet and lung.

You will feel easy on your sleep and will heal real fast. No need for antibiotics.

You can also use honey for any cuts, burns and anything.

(Part II)

The last part is here:   Show - 楚漢傳奇

This a second part discussion of  韩信 (Han Xin):

After Xiang Yu's death, China was unified under Liu Bang's rule, and Liu granted Han Xin the title of "King of Chu" in recognition of his contributions. Months later, Liu Bang declared himself Emperor of China and later became known as Emperor Gaozu of the Han Dynasty.

In 202 BC, Zhongli Mo (one of Xiang Yu's generals), who was wanted by the Han government, came to Han Xin and requested for refuge. On account of their past friendship, Han Xin protected Zhongli Mo and let him stay in his house. When Emperor Gaozu heard that Zhongli Mo was hiding in Han Xin's fief, he ordered Han to arrest Zhongli, but Han refused.

A year later, Gaozu heard rumours that Han Xin was plotting a rebellion. Chen Ping proposed to Gaozu to lure Han into a trap and capture him, on the pretext of ordering him to attend a meeting in Chen (present-day Huaiyang, Henan). Meanwhile, Zhongli Mo committed suicide to prevent Han Xin from getting into trouble. Han Xin brought Zhongli Mo's severed head to meet Gaozu later and explain his innocence, but Gaozu ordered Han to be arrested. Han Xin exclaimed, "It is true when people say: The hunting dog becomes food as well after it is used to hunt game; a good bow is discarded when there are no birds left for shooting; an advisor dies after he helps his lord conquer a rival kingdom. Now that the empire is in place, I no longer serve any purpose!" Although Gaozu pardoned Han Xin and released him later, he still demoted Han from "King of Chu" to "Marquis of Huaiyin".

After his demotion, Han Xin knew that Emperor Gaozu was beginning to distrust him and become more wary of him, because Han Xin had proven himself to be such a brilliant military leader that he even had the ability to seize Gaozu's empire for himself. Hence, Han Xin claimed to be ill and stayed at home most of the time to reduce Gaozu's suspicions. Around 197 BC, Chen Xi (Marquis of Yangxia) met Han Xin before leaving for Julu, requesting for Han's support in an uprising against the Han Dynasty. Not long later, Chen Xi rebelled and Gaozu personally led an army to suppress the rebellion.

While Gaozu was away, Empress Lü Zhi heard rumours of Han Xin's involvement in the rebellion, and she plotted with Xiao He to lure Han into a trap. Han Xin was arrested and executed in a torturous manner in Changle Palace, along with his mother, wife and close relatives. Han Xin's clan was exterminated on the empress's orders as well. Upon his return from his campaign, Gaozu expressed both glee and regret when he learnt of Han Xin's death. He asked the empress for Han Xin's last words, which were, "I regret not listening to Kuai Tong's advice."

In legend, Gaozu once promised Han Xin that if he "faced Heaven and stood firm on Earth" (頂天立地; i.e. remained loyal) to the Han Dynasty, he would not have Han Xin killed by any weapon used by soldiers. Hence, when Han Xin was executed, he was hung inside a great bell and pierced to death with swords made from wood or bamboo. As such, when he died, Han Xin was neither "facing Heaven" (because his body was covered by the bell) nor "standing firm on Earth" (because he was suspended inside the bell), and was not killed by any weapon used by soldiers (soldiers do not use wooden or bamboo swords).

My Comment

Han Xin was a beautiful strategist and a master of warfare. But, as a general and user of man, he must be able to foretell his own fortune. He must never be an employee for all his life. No master would tolerate an over-powering or bearing subordinate. Once the empire is secured, he would be removed.

Therefore no matter how strong you are in the big organisation, you will meet your end when the time is nigh. If you want to build an business empire, make sure you depend on nothing for that success. Only then, you will find peace and happiness. Han Xin was a good guy, but he trusted the wrong boss. Sometimes, you are classified as sexy by the boss only simply because you are still useful and non-replaceable or you have something the boss needs to execute his business tasks. I know that sounded ruthless in managing bosses. But how many bosses are not pure fuckens?  If you trust your boss, there is only one permanence, i.e., he will simply bite your ass when the time is right.

Being an employee is alright. But, after having served and getting slaughter at the end is not my idea of retirement. Build some self-esteem! At least we determine our own fate. Fuckens are always there. Don't ever believe fuckens will think of you. They will praise you, use you, promote you, pamper you and kill you because you are getting too expensive to keep. Remember Boxer in the Animal Farm. He was Han Xin. Sad. Self-preservation is key.

g.The Adventure

The last part is here:   Trust - Vincent van Gogh

Again long time never write about the topic.

Maybe part of growing old is not to expect anything. Maybe growing old means to accept the fate that comes.

Sometimes I wondered if I should go out and meet lotsa gals and find the one I am attracted to. The problem with me is that if I put my mind on going out and getting to know lotsa gals, except for a few isolated cases, most gals will accept me for who I am. So I am always caught in a bad dilemma, what is therefore fate and love? So many gals, some very pretty, some very smart, some very homely, some very spikey, some very bitchy, some very educated, some very hysterical, some very demure, while others are strong-headed. In fact, there was never a dull moment.

But, deep down, I was and still am a simple mind. I yearn for simplicity. A simple folk with a very humble dream. I just hope to find one that is simple and kind. I hope to bring her for an adventure.

In this adventure, I hope we can see the complete wonders of the world. There is no need to prove anything.

In about 3 years' time, let us start humbly with the silk road trip. It will take about 60 days and we will re-trace the entire silk road. Thereafter, i hope for every 3 years, we will go on a 30-60-day trip to explore this earth.

b.The Balance of Business Power

The last part is here:   Strategy - Business Methods

Every business has various power circles. Those that carry money has power. Those that carry the technology has power. Those that carry the distribution channels has power. There is therefore a need to balance these powers. Every power centre is always suspicious of other powers' intentions. So there is always a need to have open conversations. As long as the power circle is happy that their power is not undermined or being eroded by nearby powers. They will remain loyal. If ever possible, rotate their roles among each other. That way, they wouldn't be able to grow absolute power within their power circle.

Once these power circles are feeling lazy, give them new problem sets to solve. Occupy their minds. A wandering mind is dangerous to the business. There are always challenging problem sets in building product quality into the business. Give them those.

Learn from Liu bang, you must be able to absorb all kind of talents and resources. They will follow your steps if you treat them genuinely true. Don't at any one time hoodwink them. They will abandon you big time. After you have built your business empire. Learn to share it with them. Be absolutely fair. They will respect you.

Many guys after their heady years would like to slow down and see the world in a slower pace. They would be your most loyal partners.

With a thriving business, there is always food on the table.

The last part is here:   孫子兵法 (謀攻篇第三) (Chapter 3 - 5) (Part 21)

Let's continue ...

This chapter is about military shape.

Some translation suggested:
Sun Tzu said: The good fighters of old first put themselves beyond the possibility of defeat, and then waited for an opportunity of defeating the enemy. To secure ourselves against defeat lies in our own hands, but the opportunity of defeating the enemy is provided by the enemy himself. Thus the good fighter is able to secure himself against defeat, but cannot make certain of defeating the enemy. Hence the saying: One may know how to conquer without being able to do it.
Security against defeat implies defensive tactics; ability to defeat the enemy means taking the offensive. Standing on the defensive indicates insufficient strength; attacking, a superabundance of strength. The general who is skilled in defense hides in the most secret recesses of the earth; he who is skilled in attack flashes forth from the topmost heights of heaven. Thus on the one hand we have ability to protect ourselves; on the other, a victory that is complete.
Moran:   SunTzu said:   Those in antiquity who were good at warfare first made sure that they could not be overcome in order to wait for such time as the enemy could be overcome. Being unconquerable is something that one can arrange on one's own behalf. Their being susceptible to conquest depends on them. Truly, those who are good at warfare can make themselves unconquerable, but they cannot make it so that the enemy must fall in defeat. So it is said:   One can comprehend victory, but one cannot make it happen. Being invincible is a matter of self protection. Vulnerability is a matter of oneself going on the attack. 【PEM: In hand-to-hand combat, "protecting oneself" has at least two aspects. On the one hand, one can wall oneself off from attack by always staying barricaded at home or something of that sort. The problem with that approach is that one becomes one's own prisoner. Going about town in a tank is not much better.
【PEM: Walking down the street one can do much toward self protection by things such as not giving off victim vibrations, not walking into obviously threatening situations, not flashing a great amount of cash, etc. That kind of protection can go on right up to the moment that an assailant gets to within striking distance. At the point that one's back is to the wall, at the point when there is no way of escape, if the assailant persists in preparations for attack (and those preparatory moves may only take an additional second or so) it is not at all clear that one can be invincible. One's "mistake" was not to have stayed at home, having come to the aid of a damsel in distress, etc.
【PEM: This is the situation that is specific to the training of a martial artist. Many people will have other kinds of preparation to avoid attacks, and their ways will succeed or fail depending on circumstances. Many people will carry a pistol or other defensive weapon. But pulling a pistol puts one in the situation of possibly having to use it — and of then hesitating to use it due to psychological manipulation by one's assailant, awareness of a possible felony charge, etc.
【PEM: Massad Ayoob says to always make sure that any witnesses hear you say: "Don't threaten me! Put that gun down!" etc., not only in the hope that they may intervene but also, in case you hurt your assailant, so that it does not appear to witnesses that you were the felon.
【PEM: The key point that SunTzu is making, I think, is that there are disadvantages to going on the attack. The reason, especially in a self defense situation on the street, is that whoever attacks first has to commit and the person who awaits the attack has great freedom of movement with no countervailing momentum to overcome. One the attacker is in motion (or, if the defender is good enough to do a sen no sen defense as soon as the attacker's mind is in motion to attack), then the attacker is committed to one course of action an d changing his course of action will require resisting his own inertia. The defender, however, can go to either side, can step back, or can even step forward and totally disrupt most unarmed attacks. The mongoose knows how to defeat the cobra. (A sen no sen or "before the before" defense is one in which the attacker starts before the defender begins to move, but the defender still makes a counter - strike that connects before the original attack can be completed.)】
In the case of self protection there may be [a perceived] insufficiency. In the case of attack there may be [a perceived] excess in capacity. 【PEM: Self-protectiveness can be an indication that one does not believe oneself to have tactical superiority. Leaders faced with the need to defend their own territory often fear they may not be able to provide a sufficient defense. 【PEM: Aggressiveness can be an indication that one believes oneself to have the upper hand. On the other hand, it may be bluster. It is easier to overestimate one's capacities when it is the enemy's territory that is perceived as being placed at risk.】
Those who are good at self protection treasure resources away in all quadrants of the country. 【PEM: Resilience.】
Those who are good at attack move over all the land (as though travelling in the heavens). 【PEM: Mobility.】
So [by having the two strengths] one is able to protect oneself and also have complete victory. 【PEM: One is not tied down to any heavy defenses in one's own country but can melt and reform, never far from known caches. In a complementary way one has the mobility to permit one to strike anywhere within or around that domain.】

Let's discuss:

SunTzu said:
:   Seasoned warriors will ensure first they could not be overcome, while lie in wait for the time to overcome the enemy. One can make thyself unconquerable, but only the enemy can allow the conquest to be won.
:   Therefore, good warriors are those who are good at making themselves unconquerable, however they can never make sure victory of the enemy.
:   So it is said:   One can deduce victory, but one cannot make it happen.
If the battle cannot be won, defend.
:   If the battle can be won, attack.
:   If defending, there is a perceived insufficiency. If attacking, there is a perceived excess.
One is good in defence, military resources will be concealed in the deepest abysses.
:   One is good in attack, military resources will be summoned as if from the highest heavens.
:   Hence, in defence, one can totally self-preserve; on attack, victory is wholesome.

The translation is fucking weak. The translators have totally misunderstood the passage.

SunTzu obviously drew lessons from seasoned campaigners. He explained any clever warrior must first make himself invincible and totally defensible and attack only if he has the opportunity, only then can he be assured of full victory.

This is absolutely true in business. In business, forget about invading other competitor's products. Stay focused and concentrate on developing the product's quality. Only with quality, your product will not perish in the market.

By retaining an invincible position, i.e., your product has a loyal following. Once the competitors show weakness, you can now attempt the attack and attain complete victory. But, in other chapters, this form of attacking is not the most ideal form of warfare.

SunTzu was unusually hateful of full battle engagement. I wonder why?

Chinese Good Samaritan kills himself over accusations
AFP January 8, 2014, 10:04 pm

Beijing (AFP) - A man who aided a senior citizen only to be accused of knocking him down has committed suicide in the face of demands for compensation, Chinese media reported Wednesday.

The story is an extreme case of a Good Samaritan tale gone sour in China, where recent reports of helpers facing huge financial demands have triggered a heated debate over the country's law and morals.

Wu Weiqing, 46, from Dongyuan in the southern province of Guangdong, was riding his motorbike on New Year's Eve when he came across an elderly man who appeared to have been knocked over, Wu's widow told the Southern Metropolis Daily newspaper.

Wu helped the man up and drove him to a local clinic, she said, where he paid 3,500 yuan ($580) in medical fees for him.

"My husband never imagined that the old man and his family would turn around and insist that he was the one who struck him down and demand that we pay hundreds of thousands of yuan in damages," Wu's widow said.

His daughter Wu Haiyan told the Guangzhou Daily newspaper that two days later her father told friends and relatives the old man's family was demanding a huge sum for "medical fees".

"My dad called me and said that he didn't want to die, that he was being hounded to death," she said.

"He felt vexed that he himself would be asked for money by the same old man he had helped, and he thought it better to die to prove his innocence rather than drag his family down."

He gave her instructions for his funeral, she said, and hours later his body was found in a pond.

The family of the old man, surnamed Zhou, denied to local media they had requested huge sums and maintained Wu had hit him.

"If he hadn't hit my father with the motorbike, why would he be so kind as to bring my dad to the hospital and pay for his medical expenses himself?" the old man's eldest daughter told the Guangzhou Daily.

Authorities have opened an investigation, the official Xinhua news agency said.

There have been several high-profile attempts by people claiming to have been injured to extort money from those who have helped them.

In one well-known 2009 case, a driver named Xu Yunhe came to the aid of an elderly woman in the northeast city of Tianjin. The woman later claimed that Xu had hit her, and a court ordered Xu to pay her 100,000 yuan ($16,500), on the grounds that he would not have helped if he was not responsible.

In another oft-cited case, in 2011 a toddler named Yue Yue in Guangdong province was run over by two separate vehicles and later died after being ignored by more than a dozen passers-by.

The public outrage over her death led the nearby city of Shenzhen to implement a "Good Samaritan" law two years later in a bid to encourage bystanders to help strangers in need.

Wu's case sparked renewed debate among Chinese social media users over whether the country is turning into a society of bystanders.

"If good people rescue the wounded only to meet this kind of end, how cold and indifferent will this society become?" one user wrote on Sina Weibo, China's equivalent of Twitter. "Farewell, Brother Wu."

My Comment:

The yellowskins for the entire 5,000 years of civilization is of no consequence to the quality of people that are produced nowadays. Even the great SunTzu's Art of War was produced using this very ugly understanding of human nature. You might need to conduct business with the yellowskins, drink and dine with them, but, never try to be too trusting. Your good deeds are never appreciated.

You are better off trusting your very hunting dog. Therefore, direct your energy towards making your team aligned perfectly towards the same goal. You will still be alright, otherwise they will boil you alive. Plan your engagement with your team exactly the same way you plan your enemy's. They are no difference. A team member today may be your worst enemy tomorrow. Today's enemy may be your best man leading your team to greatness. That's precisely what 刘邦 did. He converted every fucker into his pawn. Once used, he would kill them off. The first part you must learn from 刘邦, the second part, I leave it to your discretion.

I am very sick and tired about human cunning, but I simply can't get ride of it. Not within my lifetime. Just recently, I managed to stay alive in the Battle of Crescent Lake. The end result is I was rewarded. But, how long can this gamble last? I am humbled. But, you must never lament over what you can't control. You must make your head firmly screwed to your body. Smile and be merry as you are still breathing today.

p.The Path to be ...

The last part is here:   The End of Life and Death

Last night a phone call came and I was made to return to the place I once born.

Lots of memories flew by.

I especially like tulips. Maybe I like to go back to look at places I once spent time in.

Maybe it is time for me to confront my past and see through the old lens just once more.

So many things have passed me by but how many things did I truly treasure? Maybe not much.

Deep down I had always wanted people to accept me for who I am and not expect me to be who I cannot.

Although I had paid a very heavy price for dislocating, I would not regret it, I still yearn for that day when I can still stand tall and 笑看风云。

The last part is here:   孫子兵法 (謀攻篇第三) (Chapter 3 - 4) (Part 20)

Let's continue ...

Some translation suggested:
Thus we may know that there are five essentials for victory:
(1) He will win who knows when to fight and when not to fight.
(2) He will win who knows how to handle both superior and inferior forces.
(3) He will win whose army is animated by the same spirit throughout all its ranks.
(4) He will win who, prepared himself, waits to take the enemy unprepared.
(5) He will win who has military capacity and is not interfered with by the sovereign.
Hence the saying:   If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.
Moran:   So it is known that victory has five components: (1) Those who know when it is all right to go to war and when it is not all right to go to war will have victory. (2) Those who recognize the way to use both forces that are superior and forces that are inferior in number to the opposition will have victory. (3) Those who see to it that those who are superior and those who are subordinate have the same desires will have victory. (4) Those who will put the forewarned in wait for the heedless will have victory. (5) The generals who have ability and who do not suffer the interference of their sovereigns will have victory.  These five things are the ways by which one may recognize victory. So it is said:   Know the other side, and know yourself. Then in one hundred conflicts you will not be in peril. If you do not know the other side yet know yourself, you will win some and lose some. If you neither know the other side nor know yourself, then in every battle you must face defeat.

Let's discuss:

Therefore, victory is known in 5 situations:
知可以戰與不可以戰者勝,:   (1) If one knows when one will fight and when one will not fight, wins.
(2) If one recognises the use of superior and inferior numbers, wins.
(3) If the desires of upper and lower echelons are the same, wins.
(4) If one is prepared lies in wait the unprepared, wins.
:   (5) If the general is able and free from interference of the ruler, wins.
:   With these 5 situations, one knows the way to victory.
Therefore it is said:
知彼,知己,百戰不殆﹔:   Know other, and know thyself, in one hundred battles, one will not perish.
Don't know other, but know thyself, one victory, one defeat.
:   Don't know other, don't know thyself, every battle faces defeat.

In business battles, if one knows when or not to engage, the correct use of numbers, the ambition of entire organisation is the same, be prepared and each soldier is free to give his level best, victory is assured. Then it will lead to the very famous saying:   Know the enemy and know thyself, a hundred battle a hundred victory. (Although not very accurately translated.)

To win a business battle, we must not only know ourselves well, we must also know the strengths and weaknesses of our enemy's, only then can we be assured of non-peril. We might not always win, but we will not perish.

SunTzu is very clear about this concept of non-peril. It is alright not to win all the time, but first, we must not perish. Self-preservation is key in any business games.

One of most interesting trick I noticed in business games is that of the ambitions of every player. Like in game theory suggested by John Nash:

In game theory, the Nash equilibrium is a solution concept of a non-cooperative game involving two or more players, in which each player is assumed to know the equilibrium strategies of the other players, and no player has anything to gain by changing only their own strategy. If each player has chosen a strategy and no player can benefit by changing strategies while the other players keep theirs unchanged, then the current set of strategy choices and the corresponding payoffs constitute a Nash equilibrium.

Stated simply, Amy and Wili are in Nash equilibrium if Amy is making the best decision she can, taking into account Wili's decision, and Wili is making the best decision he can, taking into account Amy's decision. Likewise, a group of players are in Nash equilibrium if each one is making the best decision that he or she can, taking into account the decisions of the others.

A strategy is dominant if, regardless of what any other players do, the strategy earns a player a larger payoff than any other. Hence, a strategy is dominant if it is always better than any other strategy, for any profile of other players' actions. Depending on whether "better" is defined with weak or strict inequalities, the strategy is termed strictly dominant or weakly dominant. If one strategy is dominant, than all others are dominated. For example, in the prisoner's dilemma, each player has a dominant strategy.

Master therefore the Art of War, the way of business is never simpler.

In fact the reason why John Nash won a nobel prize is because this is precisely what the entire SunTzu's Art of War meant in a few short words - the Nash Equilibrium.

p.Show - 楚漢傳奇

This is the last part:   孫子兵法 (Part 1)

The show is here:   楚漢傳奇

Since I started writing the lessons learnt in 孫子兵法, there was not many materials to showcase the tactics used in SunTzu's Art of War.

In this show, it is 80 episodes in length. The teachings in this show are very vivid in terms of showing the various principles in the Art of War. I am not sure about its accuracy in history, but, it did show the various factors that influenced the outcome of war. It is as good as it gets. Watch it 10 times if you must. I have already keep a good copy for my periodic reviews.

The question frequently on my mind is which character do I want to be?
  • 刘邦 - He was basically a user of man. He pretended to be useless, so he claimed to be in need of perpetual help. Once the help was fully rendered, he slaughtered them all in cold blood. He is so good at it that he reached emperor-ship, just by pretending. I would never work on this character mode. He was no more than another fucken. He played both ends. The lucky thing was he managed it all the way. But, based on this characterization, his future generations just like 秦始皇 were full of deceit to survive.
  • 项羽 - He is 一代枭雄。I would like to be like him. He was caring to gals and he was loyal to his friends. But, at the same time, he was brutal in every sense of the word. The key to it all was that he was never disadvantaged in his younger years. He reached sky-high position when he was very young. He never did hit defeats and troubles. This light-headedness set him up for bitter failures later. Luckily I was never "lucky" in my younger years. I did show great brilliance, when I was young. But, at the same time, every one around me was no friend. They pushed me to the corner hoping to drown out my brilliance. Even georgie baby was fearful of my brilliance. With that, I was retired with very little means and successes. I was humbled to my very knees. But, I stood up once again with no prosthesis. I roared once again. I will not be brutal, though I could. I will not be proud, though I could. I will not be blind to other talents, though I could.
We have to be weary of such women in our life. Every gal would turn to be like her if threatened hard enough. So please don't try testing the gals in your life.
He was a very loyal subject. He survived just like an ordinary joe on the street. No win, no loss.
  • 韩信 - He was very talented. He should have become a new god. But, he chose to become a long-term employee. Hence, retrenched at age 35, I guess. A bitter death as he served his all for an unloving organisation. If you asked me if he is a 帅才 or a 将才? I have a tendency to classify his talent as a 将才rather than 帅才, he merely showed prowess in winning battles using cunning. A 帅才must not only take care of the battle outcome, he must be responsible for the final outcome of the war. It is no use winning a war and to be swallow up again within a single generation. Winning a battle or war is easy. You just need numerical or resource superiority. But, to win a war ultimately, you need to grow in strength while others are dead. Look at the current situation, many large super marts are closing down, what then is your expected play of the circumstance. You can't just sit there and claim you have got no money. Wtf?
  • 秦始皇 - Like a deadly virus, too vicious. His life was easily terminated with no recourse. The fuckened old guy was slightly less vicious, he would live a day longer, but not his empire. Money is nothing more than printed coloured paper, it meant nothing, not even gold.
  • 逐鹿中原 - Although I wanted to win the war, but, I still like to be a honest kiddo. I truly don't prefer deceit to win my battles. Cunning, yes, but, not deceit. To truly win over one's opponents, one must win with great honesty. Only through honesty that one can retain the winnings. Your enemies will learn to respect you and give you that important victory. It is easy for me to amass money and people, but, I am weary of their ultimate ambitions. If I don't satisfy their ultimate ambitions, they will ultimately consume me alive. Just watch the show and you will know what i meant.
 Let's enjoy the show ...

b.Strategy - Business Methods

The last part is here:   Strategy - The Demise of Brands

In business methods, there are many things that needed to be understood. A few examples to open your minds:
  • Transportation - This is really a very important item. Almost all businesses require bulk transportation. Instead of booking regular freight forwarding. Do talk to the earthworms and try to get transportation through empty cargo freight. Truck companies usually have regular customers who are normally one-sided in shipments, i.e., they usually ship from point A to point B but not the other way round, meaning one half of the trip is empty trucking. In order to conduct transport business, the truck company will do the math and then charge the shipment in full. So seek out these shippers and try to sneak in your shipments in these empty trucks. These rates are way-way very nice. But, to get that you must not deal with the shipping company. You need to deal direct with the trucker himself. It is not unusually that each of these truckers are independent contractors. They are already paid in full, any extra off-load shipment can be taken as icing on the cake.
  • Supplies - Again this is another very critical requirement. It is not unusually to purchase supplies from regular sources. But, they are fucking expensive. They charge you their father, mother, auntie, uncle, son, daughter and cousin costs. Aim for the over-runs, there are too many over-run sources. You just have to find them. Examples, if you are buying fruits from the large suppliers in the wholesale market, although the prices are good but they can be better. Many fruit sellers have timings to their products to be delivered to the supermarkets. Once they passed that timing, they have no choice but to throw them away. So you swoon in to get these fruits at the right time. They are more than 50% down. For sure, some cannot be used, but many can be used with great effects. Some fruit plantations have fruits that cannot be sold and left on the trees to rot. Buy them just before they are dead gone. You can get them at 25% of the market value. So there are indeed many sneaky methods in getting your supplies. So why pay full price. When you finally grow too big, your economy-of-scale will allow you to get full supplies with still the low price. Construction materials can also be gotten in similar ways. You just need to look hard enough.
  • Properties and Lands - Don't buy from regular big agents, try to seek out very local deals from very tiny agents or connections. You should be able to buy great bungalows with huge land in very good locations for tiny sums that are too embarrassing to place here. They are never even more than 4 to 5-figures per pop. The rental returns allow you to buy in less than 3 years. This is how good the deals are if you are willing to seek.
  • Contractor Services - Contracting regular services is damn expensive. Your fucking plumber will not move unless you pay him like hell per hour and for a minimum of a few fucking hours. Fuck them and fuck them all. Feel insulted? Well, that's not my problem. If you are currently a plumber, that's not my problem. You have outlived your value. Employ instead unskilled worker and direct them to your needs. You only need to pay them minimum wages and yet they are so grateful to you as you employ these unskilled yellowskins for a good day's work. At the same time, since they are unskilled, they don't mind learning a new skill like plumbing your gassed hot-water tanks or sewer pipes. They would be eternally grateful. Fuck the regulations. The regulations can be gotten as a book. Just read them and learn just half a step ahead of your unskilled workers. No countries in the world disallow building improvements made by the owners. Only very tall buildings require a building code.
Enough examples. More examples only inflate the repeats.

These business methods allow you to survive for a long, long time till you get strong in the process in terms of time on market and some business building.

b.Fuck the Grand Chieftains

The last part is here:   Exploration - The Meeting with Another Grand Chieftain

Fuck the grand chieftains and fuck politics. Politics remains one of the most difficult to manage. In politics, you must be able to show absolute loyalty and yet at the same time shows that you have other options. This finesse is very difficult to pull off. One wrong step - death ensues.

I have maintained radio silence for the last week or so as the battle of the crescent lake is concluding. I have finally been emplaced as its absolute supreme commander. The ownership of the spring is also mine. Resource like this don't come every day.

Right now, many guys who got wind of the new ownership come offering me lands and properties. One guy even suggested that I buy from him a 10,000 sq ft land with a two storey office block for a low 4-figure sum. In exchange, I give him some access to the spring water. I never know pure mineral water from the ground is such a sexy asset.

I feel power is the only way to win more battles. Even the president of a very powerful organisation has asked me to include him as a member in deciding the flow of the spring water. I am indeed humbled by the word power. No wonder fuckens are so drunk by the concept. The only difference is they can only have command over shit water, whereas I have pure water purified for millions of years by the granite rocks.

A victory of this nature only comes once in every 30 years. If you see one, grab it with honour. You should be able to feed your generations for at least 500 years.

With this resource, after paying tax, it will give me power to capture more resources. White crane asked me to service her well today as her father, grey hawk will extend his full finances to serve in my court.

I like playing with other people's money, but I like better if I can play other people's time.

Today, I must rest. I was made sick by the stress I felt over the past week.

To celebrate victory is good, but, be humbled by the given break is human.

I will, at this new year, renew my vow that I will serve non-fuckened families who are in need. I hope to give their future generations life. May they too feel love in a stone-cold night. Suddenly, my -50degC is all worth it. I thank tengri and my ancestors for giving me rest.

White crane asked me an interesting question today, "How many forbidden-city-and-tiananmen am I going to have?"

I answered sickly, "Way more than all the palaces combined. Forbidden-city-and-tiananmen is only 116 hectares in size."

Tengri and my ancestors have given me a brain not to abuse it in serving my own selfish needs, but to serve a greater good. May my wish and dream come true ...

b.Passion Business VII - Cryptocurrency

The last part is here:   Passion Business I - Taste

One of the latest trends now in internet is the creation of cryptocurrency. The most famous being Bitcoin. Search it, read about it and digest it in full from the internet. There are millions of literature on it.

This trend is the next wave in internet. Learn it, master it and lord over it.

Although I have ear-marked it as the passion business VII, my hands are so full now that I can't really exercise this business-type with personal attention.

So if you are reading this topic, done research totally on it and concluded that it is the next wave. Then, write to me. I might be interested to create another cryptocurrency with some of my small funds.

The key problems faced by the bitcoin are:
  • It is highly speculative. It goes from US$13 in Jan 2013 to US$1,100 (Dec) and then plunged back to US$800 right now (Jan 2014). Merchants don't like such volatility.
  • It has very low volume, i.e., 10 million coins in circulation.
  • Since each coin is so expensive now, merchants would shy away from transacting in it.
  • Low merchant penetrations.
  • It doesn't have a good conversion table against other currencies. A cryptocurrency is only good if it can easily be convertible into other currencies.
Our cryptocurrency must solved the above short-falls:
  • It must not be speculative, its value must be deterministic for a reasonable period of time.
  • It must be able to grow according to demand for use of coins.
  • A good deterministic conversion table against other fiat currencies.
  • Able to trade and accepted by common merchants.
  • Must have deflationary features.
This my dream coming true for micro-payment system. I have been playing with this idea for at least 20 years. Maybe now is a good time to pull the rabbit out of its hat.

This project if placed in an after-burner may not take off. So be warned. Internet is a fast-paced business, which I don't always like. That is why I am not too keen to participate using my personal time. Off-handed fund is alright for me though.
