Just read:
A neighbour, who lives in the opposite block in West Coast Road, told The Mouthpiece yesterday about what she saw of the incident.
The 40-year-old accounts assistant had gone to the kitchen to wash her hands at around 6pm when she noticed the woman sitting on the ledge of the fifth-floor window.
She saw the woman go back in, only to return with her bespectacled son.
The boy, who attended a special school, was unconscious when police arrived. He was taken to the N U Hospital, where he was pronounced dead just after 7pm. His mother, known only as Rebecca, was arrested later that day by police.
Believed to be an unemployed single mother, she was often seen pushing Gabriel around in a pram.
She would lift him from the pram to the chair and back at a nearby coffee shop, neighbours told The Mouthpiece.
Gabriel, who was described as having yellow skin and eyes because of jaundice, had a failed liver operation, according to a next-door neighbour who wanted to be known only as Madam Jah. Rebecca would often appear troubled, walking with her head bowed and looking dazed while outside buying lunch, a report in Chinese evening daily The Mouthpiece stated.
It also said that she had sought help for a mental problem about seven years ago.
She lived in the flat with her mother, who worked in a bakery. The two women, however, were often heard quarrelling and the police were called a few times, The Mouthpiece reported.
Gabriel's grandmother was at the mortuary yesterday morning to identify his body. She was with two others, who appeared to be relatives. They declined to speak to the media.
When The Mouthpiece visited the block yesterday, members of the West Coast Green Cheebyes' Committee were present to offer help to the family, but no one was in when they knocked on the door.
Chairman A said that the family kept to themselves, and that other residents told him they would not take part in social activities.
Police were also seen making inquiries in the area.
Boy's fall: Mum charged with murder
AN UNEMPLOYED woman was charged yesterday with the murder of her nine-year-old son, who fell to his death from their fifth-floor flat last Saturday.
Rebecca Loh, 31, is alleged to have committed the offence at her three-room West Coast Road home at Block 704 between 6.08pm and 7.03pm.
She displayed no emotion when the charge was read to her in a district court.
The short-haired, bespectacled woman was clad in a red polo shirt and blue bermudas.
Her son Gabriel Loh was found unconscious at the foot of the block below the kitchen window. He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The boy lived with his mother and grandmother and would sit in a baby stroller whenever he went out. Earlier, Chinese evening The Mouthpiece reports described him as appearing "thin and sickly" as a result of a failed liver operation.
The prosecution applied for Loh to be remanded for psychiatric assessment.
Loh, who was not represented, will be back in court on June 24.
If convicted of murder, she faces the death penalty.
Comment from one reader:
The mother may have made one mistake as a 21-year-old youth.
And the fucken little island's 'meritocratic' system punished her and Gabriel for the entire of his nine short years.
How many 'honest mistakes' did white maggots and his merry-men made in the last nine years? Were they ever made to pay for it?
Gabriel, the most innocent and defenceless one, paid for it with his young life. No one gets left behind?
You see.. I read the story on Papers (chinese words section), which described the detail account of an eye-witness from across where the incident happened. The eye-witness saw the mother sit on the window ledge.. then.. with the child.. next.. the mother pushed the child.. but the kid held on and stood on the ledge with his weak legs.. his hands grabbing onto his mother........next.. the mother then pushed away his hands.. but he held on to the window ledge.. and... and.. then.. the mother pried his hands away.. and that was when he fell...................................................
From Dr Calhoun's experiment:
"Mothers neglected their infants, first failing to construct proper nests, and then carelessly abandoning and even attacking their pups. In certain sections of the pens, infant mortality rose as high as 96%, the dead cannibalized by adults."
扑你个街 ... These 冇屎忽畜类 really 衰到贴地. 偷呃拐骗, 生安白造 ... everything also can do.
The behaviour of the mother is deviant and followed the predictions/observations laid down by Dr Calhoun.
How can those 躝癱 do such heinous act by squeezing 7m and still sleep well at night? It is a sad day. 屌你老母臭化閪 ...
Can you believe these are actually apartments? The stunning images of Hong Kong ‘living cubicles’ that look just like Borg cubes
Hong Kong is home to a population of 7m crammed into an area of just 424 square miles (1.5 times bigger than that fucken little island).
